Self Service Step 4 - Data loading options Follow

You are nearly there! Step 4 is the last and most important step to ensuring that classes, teachers and students are loaded into Hāpara.

 

The Hāpara Instructional Suite is an incredibly flexible set of tools that you can customize to meet the specific needs of your school or district. 

 

Below is a table showing our data loading options to guide you to make the best decision for your school. 

 

Make sure to read the options available. >> Then click the link under the Setup column. This link will take you to an article with the steps for your chosen loading method/s.

 

Loading Method Pros Limitations/Cons Setup
Google Classroom Sync
  • Easy and quick to configure
  • Gives more ownership to teachers (very hands-off for admins)
  • Uses Google Classroom to create classes and add students, auto-syncs.
  • The Google Drive folder created for a Google Classroom class is shown in Hāpara Teacher Dashboard.
  • Can be used in conjunction with other data loads to allow both school-created and teacher-created classes
  • No student Google Drive folders provisioned; instead uses existing Google Classroom folder associated with that class
  • No ability for teachers to change student passwords from the Hāpara Class Info tab
  • No ability for teachers to email the class from the Class Info tab

Create Classes Manually
  • Easy and quick to configure
  • Gives more ownership to teachers (very hands-off for admins)
  • Can be used in conjunction with other data loads to allow both school-created and teacher-created classes
  • No student Google Drive folders provisioned 
  • No ability for teachers to change student passwords from the Hāpara Class Info tab
  • No ability for teachers to email the class from Class Info

Manual Spreadsheet Load
  • Settings are customizable
  • Custom student Google Drive folder creation is available
  • Someone must maintain data spreadsheets that have specific formatting requirements
  • Cannot be automated (no daily sync)

SIS Sync (Clever, PowerSchool, ClassLink)
  • Syncs with SIS/SMS,
    so there is no
    manual process
  • Daily sync
  • One time setup
    configuration
  • Custom student Google
    Drive folder creation is

  • PowerSchool
    configuration is partially
    configurable

cURL
  • Settings are customizable 
  • Automation is available and can set how often data auto-syncs
  • Custom student Google Drive folder creation is available
  • Technical setup required
  • Manual processing still required for updating spreadsheets prior to loads

The Self Service Setup Guide has taken you through the necessary steps to get Hāpara up and running for your school/s.

There are, however, other configurations within the Hāpara Admin Console which you can enable by following our Instructional Consideration Guide HERE.

 

Teachers will now be able to access app.hapara.com and get started with exploring all that Hāpara has to offer! 

 

As an administrator you can access the Hāpara Admin Console at any time by navigating to app.hapara.com/admin.
