Validation, parsing and processing

Every data load will run through the following stages as part of the loading process:

  1. Validation: File format, structure and basic content are checked. If there are critical errors, the data load is failed and no rows from the file are processed.
  2. Parsing: Next, every row in the file is analyzed and additional checks are run.
  3. Processing: A log line will advise how many classes or students require processing, and subsequent log lines will detail the changes made.

Load details are filtered to Show only Errors and Warnings by default. To see all information including INFO messages select the Show All filter option above the load details table.

Identifying load errors

There are several types of messages that appear in Load Details. FATAL, ERROR and WARN identify rows of data that have been flagged for troubleshooting.

INFO: Lowest level of log, INFO advises what step is being processed

WARN: This row has generated a lower level error, see this article for more

ERROR: This row has generated an error, see this article for a list of errors

FATAL: The load has aborted, no further rows are processed

Now that you know how to identify the error messages in your load details, you need to know what they mean: Please see our Data Loader Error Messages article for examples and descriptions of data loading errors, and how to resolve them.
