What does Current Screens show me? Follow
What you need
- Students must be online in Chrome, signed in with their registered school account and running the Highlights extension.
- Screenshot visibility must be enabled by your Hāpara administrator.
How to use this view
- Sign in to Hāpara, open the class, then select Highlights and Class View.
- Select Current Screens above the Student Tiles.
- Wait for the tiles to refresh. Each available tile shows a near-real-time image of the learner's active browser tab.
- Select a screen preview to inspect the learner's screen and open-tab list in a larger view.
- If a tile says that no active tab or screenshot is available, confirm that the learner is online, signed into the school account and using the supported Highlights extension.
What it looks like
Use the numbered callouts in each image to match what you see on screen.
What you’ll see
Available Student Tiles refresh with an image of the tab currently visible to the student. Opening a preview also shows recently opened tabs, with the active tab emphasized.
If something looks wrong
- If a preview is unavailable, ask the student to open a normal webpage and confirm the school Chrome profile is active.
- Protected pages and supported video-call screens may not produce a screenshot.
Good to know
- Use the larger screen view before taking a Snap.
- Allow the tile time to refresh before deciding that the displayed activity is unavailable.
