Hāpara Workspace and Google Drive Follow
In this article:
Workspace and Google Drive overview
Hāpara Workspace works with your Google Drive to help manage students' assignments. Every Workspace you create has a corresponding Google Drive folder, where student work is stored.
When students start work on an evidence card (third column), Workspace creates the corresponding Google Doc, Sheet, Slide, etc. in a Google Drive folder that both the student and their teacher(s) can access. When students submit work on an evidence card, their editing access to that document is removed, so only their teacher(s) can make changes.
Workspace relies on this connection with Google Drive to manage the back and forth flow of assignments from teachers to students.
If for some reason the Workspace folders in Drive are deleted, the ability for students to start and submit evidence in Workspace can break.
Once a folder or document is moved to the Trash in your Drive, it will be permanently deleted after 30 days. This is when you will see the impact on your Workspaces. We cannot recover your files at this point.
Workspace folders in Drive
We have recently renamed the folders that Workspace creates in Drive to make it more clear what they are and that they should not be deleted.
If you are using Workspace with your students, you will see the following folder structure in your Drive:
Do not delete any of these folders
- My Drive
- Hāpara [Do not delete]
- Hāpara Workspaces [Do not delete]
- Hāpara [school year 1]
- [Workspace title]
- [Workspace title]
- Hāpara [school year 2]
- Hāpara [school year 1]
- Hāpara Workspaces [Do not delete]
- Hāpara [Do not delete]
Within the folder for a specific Workspace, you will find a folder for each student or group that has submitted evidence for that Workspace. You will also find an Assessed work folder that contains copies of any work that was Returned final.
