The Record feature is a powerful new tool designed to enhance visibility and support meaningful digital citizenship in the classroom! When enabled by the Hāpara school or district administrator, this feature allows teachers to view and record students’ browsing activity during class sessions.
How to enable Record for your domain
The Record feature will need to be enabled in the Hāpara Admin Console by your school or district Hāpara administrator.
Hāpara administrators can turn this feature on for the district or for individual schools.
If the Record feature has not been enabled for your school, please reach out to your school Hāpara administrator who will be able to discuss this with you further and decide if Record is a beneficial feature for your school.
How teachers can Record student browsing history

In the Highlights tab, click Record in the upper righthand corner

Choose the duration to record student browsing history (maximum time of 60 minutes per session).
Click Record to start the recording session.
- Once the session has been started, the Record button will turn red and display Stop recording.
To view how much time is left in a session, teachers can open the Overview Panel to view the countdown timer.
How teacher can stop a recording session
- A recording session will stop automatically when the time is up.
To stop a recording session before the time is up, click the red Stop recording button
How to view Student browsing history
In Highlights, click on the Recordings tab to see a list of all Student browsing recordings listed under the Type column. Or, click the Student browsing tab.
The side panel will display a Site view listing all the URLs that students were viewing across the class during the recorded session.
The side panel will also allow teachers to view browsing activity by student using the Student view tab. Selecting individual students will display a list of all the URLs they had open during the recording session and the duration of time that each URL was open.
