How to send an announcement
Whether you're sending a bit of encouragement, a reminder to get back on task or some helpful in-the-moment feedback, sending announcements in Highlights is a powerful way to quickly and discretely check in with students.
Sending an announcement to individual students, a group or the class
1. Click on the Announce button at the top right-hand side of your screen.
2. Select Class, Students or Groups.
3. Type in the announcement you want to send to your students. This announcement can be up to 170 characters long.
4. If you'd like, you can add an emoji to the announcement. > Click Add emoji to open the emoji library. > Select an emoji.
5. Click the Send button. Within seconds, your students will receive your announcement.
Sending an announcement to one student from the Student Tile
You can also quickly and easily send an announcement to a specific student from their Student Tile. This is a great option for sending specific feedback or for warning a student before closing their tab.
1. Click the megaphone icon in the top right corner of the Student Tile.
2. Type your announcement.
3. Click Add emoji to open the emoji library. > Select an emoji if you'd like.
4. Click Send. Within seconds, the student should receive the announcement.
Using emojis when sending an announcement to students
Using emojis when sending an announcement provides you with a simple, clear way to communicate with your students. These are great to use for positive feedback, promoting social and emotional learning and building positive classroom relationships.
The student experience
When your students receive the announcement, it will appear in a pop-up in the center of their screen.
Announcements will stay on students' screens until they click OK or dismiss the announcement.
