Hāpara Workspace is a platform that allows you to create an engaging learning path for students. A Workspace contains a collection of learning objectives, online resources, assessments and learning criteria for a stream of work.
More than that, though, it’s also an interactive place where teachers can differentiate instruction, personalize learning, track learning progress and collaborate with other teachers. Workspace also allows students to actively engage with online content, make choices about how they want to learn and work collaboratively in groups.
How do you access Workspace?
To access Workspace:
- Log into Teacher Dashboard at https://app.hapara.com.
- Click Workspace at the top.
What can you see on the Workspace homepage?
When you first log into Workspace, you will see the My Workspaces page.
This includes all of your Workspaces organized into different categories.
- Owned by me: These are Workspaces you’ve started creating, have created or have copied.
- Shared with me: These are Workspaces that aren’t linked to your classes, but you’ve been added as teacher/collaborator on them.
- My labels: If you’ve created custom labels for any Workspaces, they will be organized here by those labels.
- Professional learning: These are any professional learning Workspaces that you are working on to boost your skills.
- My classes: These are Workspaces that are organized by the classes you’ve assigned them to.
- Archived: These are Workspaces that you archived and are no longer active.
Other features of the homepage include:
- A button to create a new Workspace
- A search bar to search your Workspaces
- A Discover tab to search for Workspaces that have been shared publicly
What can you see after you open a Workspace?
When you open a Workspace, you will be brought to the Workspace’s main page. The main page in the Workspace is where the content appears in Workspace Cards. These are displayed across four different Workspace Columns.
The view will be from the teacher’s perspective versus how a student views it. This allows you to make edits to groups or content.
Workspace Cards
Workspace Cards give students access to learning goals and resources such as online videos and articles. They also include learning evidence and activities in the form of Google files. Cards can also include rubrics so you can make assessment criteria clear to students.
Overall, the Workspace Cards include all the digital content you want students to read, view, respond to or engage with over the course of the Workspace.
Workspace Columns
Workspace Columns organize Cards across four default categories:
- Goals: include objectives or learning standards
- Resources: include links to articles, videos and websites that teach students about topics
- Evidence: include digital assignments, quizzes, tests or projects
- Rubrics: include criteria for success
Note: You can change the Workspace Column headings by clicking on the heading and typing.
How can you use the Workspace tabs?
The tabs in the top white section of an individual Workspace help you manage the learning that’s going on in Workspace.
Students & Groups tab
The Students & Groups tab allows you to add classes or individual students to the Workspace. It also allows you to create groups to help you differentiate learning, as well as add co-teachers to specific groups.
Activity Summary and Individual Activity tabs
The Activity tabs (Activity Summary and Individual Activity) are linked to the Evidence Cards in your main Workspace page. You can use these tabs to view students’ progress on formative and summative assessments and manage grading.
What is the Discover tab?
The Discover tab at the top of Workspace allows you to find and copy public Workspaces. These are Workspaces that teachers across the Hāpara community created and shared.
In Workspace, click Discover to browse by subjects, grades or standards. You can also use the search feature to find Workspaces by topic.
Once you open and copy a Workspace, you can modify it any way you’d like to meet the needs of your students.
