Hāpara Teacher Dashboard is the central hub for viewing students' progress in Google files. It’s an organized, streamlined tool that enables teachers to view, access and give feedback on digital work.
With Teacher Dashboard, you have one-click access to students' Google Drive files, saving you time.
How to change the name on a Student Tile
This requires Google Workspace for Education administrator access.
- Access admin.google.com.
- Log in as an administrator.
- Click Users.
- Search for the student's username via the search bar.
- Select the student's account from the list of search results.
- Click Account.
- Under Basic Information, click Edit.
- Double-click the student's First or Last name to highlight it.
- Type in the student's desired name.
- Click UPDATE USER.
- It may take up to 24 hours for the student's name to update in Hāpara Teacher Dashboard due to caching.
How to preview a student's file
In a Student Tile, roll your mouse over the file name to preview the file.
This is a quick and convenient way to see when the doc was last updated and viewed, who last updated the doc, and who the doc is shared with.
How to open a student's file
In a Student Tile, click on a file name to open the file in a new window.
How to open a student's folder in Google Drive
1. In a Student Tile, click on the three dots to open the menu.
2. Select Open Folder.
3. The student's Drive folder will open in a new window.
How to email an individual student
1. In a Student Tile, click on the three dots to open the menu.
2. Select Email.
3. An email window will open with the student's email address already populated.
How to edit a student's groups
1. In a Student Tile, click on the three dots to open the menu.
2. Select Edit groups.
3. Select or deselect any groups to make changes.

How to filter Student Tiles by group
1. Click the Groups drop-down menu.
2. Select any groups you would like to view.
How to sort Student Tiles alphabetically
1. Click the Sort drop-down menu.
2. Select to sort by first name or last name.
How to change the size of Student Tiles
1. Click the Size drop-down menu.
2. Select Compact to make the Student Tiles smaller. This will display more Student Tiles on your screen.
3. To change the size back to the original size, select Default.
How to reorder Student Tiles
1. Find the Student Tile you want to reorder.
2. Click on it and drag it in front of or behind another Student Tile.
How to search for student files
1. Find the text box next to the magnifying glass on the right side of Teacher Dashboard.
2. Type the file name or keywords.
How to use the Teacher Dashboard Drive button
The Drive button gives you access to all student files, beyond those in the Student Tiles. This is helpful if a student has misplaced a file, or you want to check that students are using Google Drive safely.
1. Click on the Drive button at the top.
2. From the drop-down menu, select to view All documents, Public, External, Unshared or Deleted Docs.
3. Type a title or keywords in the search bar to narrow your search.
