Deploying self-hosted Highlights extension Follow
As of January 2023, Hāpara is now self-hosting the Highlights Chrome extension, rather than uploading it to the Chrome Web Store for downloads. This allows for faster updates and improvements, as well as the option to roll back any changes as required.
As part of this change, you will be required to remove the Highlights extension that is currently pushed out on your domain and reinstall the extension by following the steps below.
The following must be performed while logged into your Google Admin Console as a super administrator.
Removing the old Highlights extension:
1. Log into your Google Admin Console
2. Locate the Hāpara Highlights extension
a. Select 'Devices' from the left-hand menu column
b. Click 'Chrome'
c. Click 'Apps & extensions'
d. Click 'Users & browsers'
e. Select your student OU/s from the listed organizational units menu
You should see the Highlights extension listed under your student OU. If you do not have organizational units set up on your domain, it is likely that the extension can be found at the root level.
You can identify the Highlights extension by the extension ID: kbohafcopfpigkjdimdcdgenlhkmhbnc
3. Click on the Hāpara Highlights Extension and click the trash icon on the right-hand menu.
4. You will then see a pop-up window asking if you are sure you want to delete this application. Click 'Delete.'
If you have multiple student organizational units, please complete the same process for each OU to ensure the extension has been completely removed.
