How to disable the Hāpara Filter extension on Windows and Mac Chrome browsers Follow
If students use school issued Chromebooks, you may need to use an extension force install policy in order to deploy the Filter extension to those devices. However, this means that when students sign into Chrome browsers with their school Google accounts on home Windows or Mac computers, the Hāpara Filter extension will be force installed onto the browsers on those devices as well. When students are learning from home, on shared home computers, you may not want the Hāpara Filter to run on those devices.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to configure Google Workspace to force install the extension only to Chromebooks (not on Windows or Mac devices). To solve this problem, there is an option for the extension to disable itself if installed on non-Chromebook devices.
- Log into Hāpara Filter admin console.
- Navigate to the Configuration tab, and select Global Settings on the left.
- Enable the option Use Chrome extension to filter Chromebooks only.
