Teachers can access the "Drive" tab in Hāpara Hāpara recommends: Enable

Enabled When this is enabled, teachers have visibility into all Docs including public, and external — helpful for digital citizenship instruction and conversations to ensure that learners are using Docs safely and for class activities. Teachers can also search the entire student drive by Doc title or text content. |
Disabled When this is disabled, teachers will only have visibility of Docs that are in folder(s) associated with the class. Teachers would need to ask students to search Google Drive for missing Docs.

Teachers can see files where student access is view-only and commenter
Hāpara recommends: |
Enabled When this is enabled, teachers can view all files within the students' Google Drives, including read-only type files such as Docs that are set to view-only and commenter, as well as PDFs, photos, etc. These will be listed on the Student Tiles.
Note: Teachers will not be able to access these files unless the option below is enabled or students have shared the files with teachers. |
Disabled When this is disabled, teachers will only see files that students themselves can edit. |
Teachers can temporarily open files not shared by the students Hāpara recommends: Enable |
Enabled When this is enabled, any authorized user of Teacher Dashboard can gain temporary access to student documents by opening them from the Teacher Dashboard view. The access lasts for one hour, after which time access is revoked for the user. This option is useful for administrators or other non-teachers who wish to view specific student documents from Teacher Dashboard. |
Disabled When this is disabled, teachers can only access any files that are in folder(s) associated with the class, and any files outside of these folders that have been shared with them — as per Google defaults. |

Teachers can view all classes within their school

Note: Consider adding tech coaches, support teachers, admins and others who serve all students and teachers to td.users group(s) so they have visibility into all school/domain classes. |
Checked When this is checked, teachers will be able to view all of the classes in the school(s) they teach classes in.

Unchecked The teachers will only have visibility of classes they are added to.

Teachers can add co-teachers and students to their classes

Checked If enabled, teachers will be able to add or remove co-teachers or students to the class. |
Unchecked When this is unchecked, class rosters are updated by the chosen load method. A Hāpara Administrator can add or remove co-teachers as required. |
Teacher-managed roster | ||
Create new classes manually Hāpara recommends: Checked |
Checked When this is checked, teachers can manually add a new class to their roster. There are many instructional reasons why teachers want to do this. This would be useful for extracurricular activities, for example. |
Unchecked When this is unchecked, teachers would not have the ability to manually set up new classes. |
Sync with Google Classroom Hāpara recommends: Checked |
Checked If teachers in your school/district use Google Classroom, we recommend checking this as it allows teachers to sync their Google Classroom information into Hāpara. Google Classroom sync can be used in parallel to any direct syncs with SIS. |
Unchecked When this is unchecked it will not allow teachers to sync Google Classroom information with Hāpara. |
General - Landing module |

Landing module Hāpara recommends: Whichever application is the priority for the district Note: This comes down to school focus/preference and can only be turned on at district level. |

Pause Screens Hāpara recommends: Enable |
Enabled When this is enabled, teachers can pause all student screens for a short period of time, which helps the teacher gain the attention of all students more quickly than simply asking students to “close their lids.” |
Disabled When this is disabled, teachers will not be able to pause student screens. |
Provide reasons for closing tabs
|
When teachers close a student tab, they are prompted to provide a reason for doing so. The reason appears as a pop-up message on the student's screen. The student will receive context to help them understand why their tab was closed, encouraging them to make better decisions. Technical administrators can include up to four templated responses that best reflect the culture of their school/district. For example, "Hello, I see you're lost on the internet. Please redirect your focus to the assigned task."

Hāpara expects districts to monitor student web browsing only during instructional time and on school networks. If for any reason your school/district has made the decision to monitor outside of school hours, it must be clear in your acceptable usage policy, and students and parents must be informed ahead of time. |

If the IP restrictions are enabled, then monitoring will only be allowed when students are on the school network. WARNING: You could put the school/district at risk for privacy concerns if you allow monitoring off of the school network.

Focused Browsing SSO allowed list |
Contact teachers to collect potential sites that require students to log in. Populating the SSO allowed list ahead of time prevents interruptions during instructional time. Also, test any important sites (i.e. state testing) ahead of time to work out any unforeseen issues. As an example, for Google Single Sign-on, these URLs should be specified in the SSO allowed list:

Enabled When this is enabled, your teachers have access to Workspace. Workspace is a feature that is truly unique and serves a purpose even if your school already has an LMS. |
Disabled When this is disabled, teachers do not have access to Workspace. |
Enable Workspace sharing Hāpara recommends: Enable |
Enabled Sharing Workspaces grants users the ability to share their Workspaces with people outside your domain. Only the teacher-created cards and documents would be visible, and no student names or student-created cards or documents would be shared. |
Disabled When this is disabled, teachers will not be able to share their Workspaces even within their domain. |
