RIC One Integration with Hapara Follow

Hapara now has an integration with RIC One for use by customers in New York State and can sync classes, teachers and students from RIC One daily or on demand.

To configure RIC One to Hapara sync:

RIC One Sync Configuration in Hapara Admin Console:

  1. Login to your Hapara Admin Console
  2. Browse to Data Loader > Sync Configuration
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions (more detailed instructions provided here). You will need the RefID for your LEA from RIC One
  4. When Sync config is complete, browse to Data Loader > Sync
  5. Select Synchronize daily if you wish to automatically sync class and student data
  6. If you wish, you can begin a Class sync from the Sync page, and monitor the progress of this via the Data Loader Status Page.

Note: If you are syncing multiple schools, we recommend enabling School Separation

  1. Login to your Hapara Admin Console
  2. Browse to Configuration > School Configuration
  3. Ensure all schools are configured here as per our School Separation Setup article.  The school codes you set up need to match the codes coming through from your SIS.  Our support team can assist you with this setup.

Notes:

  • Hapara reads information from RIC One. Hapara does not write any information into RIC One.

Your Next Steps:

  • Navigate to Hapara Admin Console > Data Loader > Sync Configuration and work your way through the Sync Configuration wizard.
  • If you want to turn on automatic daily uploads, navigate to Hapara Admin Console > Data Loader > Sync and turn automatic daily uploads on.
  • Otherwise, when you want to do an ad-hoc upload, navigate to Hapara Admin Console > Data Loader > Sync and do the one-off upload.

How RIC One information flows into Hapara:

This section summarizes how the Hapara Data Loader takes key data from RIC One and loads it into Hapara.

Data Loader obtains the StudentEmail address from the emailAddress field in the Student record of the RIC One API.

Data Loader constructs the ClassEmail address by combining the following fields in the Roster record of the RIC One API:

  • courseTitle
  • schoolSectionId
  • refId (last four digits only - provides uniqueness)

For RIC One the ClassEmail is also used as ClassName.
